I am currently a stay-at-home mother and with experience in retail, publishing and nursery education, my career has spanned different sectors, but a desire to write has always been at the forefront of my mind.

My almost militant intolerance of poor grammar and spelling began when I started Latin in high school - my inspiring, but uncomprimising, teacher made sure I never split an infinitive. When I finished school, I did a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree at the University of Cape Town, majoring in English literature. I loved every moment of every lecture, probably because I had the utmost honour of being taught by some incredibly talented people, including double-Booker Prize winner and Nobel laureate J.M. Coetzee and novelist Andre Brink.

Each time I get into a car, or hang the washing out, or take part in any mundane daily task, I find my mind wandering to various topics, but I have never before thought to spend the time jotting down those ideas and exploring them in articles. I am extremely excited to be able to take that last step, finally.
